Rebellion
The Autobots, led by
Ultra Magnus, storms Darkmount and the resulting episode is a grand fight. While no one important dies, a lot of
Vehicons do and we get to see Ultra Magnus in action. Predictably, and thanks to the many hints
such as the DVD cover... Optimus returns with an all new body form (thus
distinguishing him more from Ultra Magnus’ body type) and shows off his
awesomeness as he comes to save the day.
Optimus gets a flight pack which is cool. Predaking makes an appearance but becomes
underwhelming. This episode is more show
and less about thought and calculations.
The humour interspersed throughout the episode is good and makes it an
enjoyable one.
Project Predacon
As hinted by the
title, this episode is centred on obtaining a piece of Predacon “CNA” in order
for Shockwave to clone more. By the
point, nothing can surprise me in how the writers retcon Transformers history
with Earth, I mean, Earth must be pretty much the playground of Transformers,
what with Predacons roaming millions of years ago and the Earth itself being
Unicron. This felt like a somewhat slow
episode and it takes a while before it gets into it. We get to see Soundwave in battle which we
haven’t had a chance to since a while back.
There were a lot of references in this episode so it was amusing trying
to pick it all up.
Chain of Command
This episodes occurs
concurrently with the previous, following Ultra Magnus, Wheeljack and Bulkhead
in their task to retrieve the Predacon fossil.
So it would seem, following Season 2, that fetch quests are still a
significant plot device. Predaking makes
an appearance here, which seems weird when he was instantly frozen before and
now, after a while, does he break free by breathing fire. Miko’s rebellious actions get a positive
result (not really a good moral here), gaining the apex armour and saving the
day. Starscream’s cowardice will star to
get on your nerves (if it hasn’t already), especially when he keeps going on
and on about how he had defeated Cliffjumper.
Once again, this feels more like a filler episode than anything that
truly pushes the plot forward.
